Northeast Ohio (NEO) Impact is a branch of SPAN Ministries that works collaboratively with The Impact Movement. NEO Impact includes a diverse group of leaders, community members, alumni, and clergy who are all passionate about seeing the life-changing power of the gospel. NEO Impact leaders are overseen by the board of directors of The Impact Movement to ensure students are being shepherded and loved faithfully, gently, and biblically.
A church, by definition, is the “called-out assembly or congregation,” ekklesia in Greek. Though NEO Impact consists of members who have been “called out of darkness,” we do not take the place of church in a student’s life. We are a para-church ministry, “para” meaning “aside” or “adjacent to.” NEO Impact walks alongside the local church to help fulfill the Great Commission given in Matthew 28:18-20.
We do, however, share similarities with the church. We have worship, preaching, and regular gatherings with a defined purpose. NEO Impact differs from the church, however in the sense that it is not intergenerational. Most of our members are between the ages of 17 and 30.
We rely on funding for everyday ministry needs, but we do not collect offerings on a regular basis. Our support comes from local ministries or individual partners, either financially or providing resources.
